Exodus Filmworks presents the trailer for dawn., the new film directed by Ya'Ke and co-written by Ya'Ke and Mikala Gibson. After several prison stints, dawn is determined to right her wrongs, but the years locked away may have damaged her. The film stars Mikala Gibson in the title role with supporting performances by Nadine Mozon, Monica Pena, Marc Daratt, Dane Berkshire, Daniel Tanner, Nadine Marissa and Tyrees Allen. The short Film recently screened in New York at the American Black Film festival. Recently I had the pleasure of sitting down with Houston filmmaker Dallas Box. Dallas wrote the script for the short which will film after the beginning of the year. I last talked to him just about 18 months ago right about the time he was working on a short film titled "Stand" which explored bullying. This time Mr. Box is here to talk about him upcoming short film "Rotten" Rotten is a twisted, tragic love story that spirals out of control. The story picks up during a night on the town for two of the films characters where they meet the third piece of the stories puzzle. The filmmaker reveals what happens afterwards in what could be a fantasy of one of the main female characters, or is it? Could it be that this is something that actually took place. The story feels almost like a suspenseful mind game the filmmaker plays with the audience.
