Film Festival Strategies and Secrets for Indie Filmmakers with Chris Holland

So you've made a film and now you're wanting to submit it to film festivals. But which festivals do you submit to? How do you get your film accepted? And once it is accepted, how do you get bottoms in the seats at your screening(s)? All these questions and more will be answered at SWAMP's July salon with guest speaker Christopher Holland, the author of "Film Festival Secr...ets: A Handbook for Independent Filmmakers." Following his time on staff at the Austin Film Festival and at indie film distributor B-Side, Chris currently works as the Director of Festival Operations for the independent film non-profit IFP (www.ifp.org). Chris will navigate you through the film festival world to offer insights and secrets to help you determine the best path for your film.

It is with great sadness that I have to report on the passing of Austin actress Maricela Ochoa Henderson. Ochoa lost her battle with breast cancer earlier today. Starting with a ABC After School Special in 1993 she has a pretty steady career in Los Angeles working on show like "Joan of Arcadia," "Missing Persons," "New York Undercover" and "ER." She also had worked in theater as well as several film before having to suspend her career in 2007.
