TXMPA ANNUAL MEETING SET
Walt Disney said it best when he said, “You can design and create, and build the most wonderful place in the world. But it takes people to make the dream a reality.” For over 80 years, Texas has been one of the most wonderful places in the world to make films, but in order for that to continue for 80 more, we need people – we need you! We need each and every one of you who are supporters of the Texas film industry to attend your regional meetings and caucuses, participate in both the online fundraising auction and online elections for At-Large candidates, and attend and meet your fellow film supporters at the TXMPA's Annual Meeting in Dallas.
So first things first: the Regional Meetings/Caucuses. Regional positions (and their respective Alternates) that are up for election this term include the following: Panhandle, Rio Grande, Southeast, and West. To be eligible to participate in the Regional Caucuses – which will be held between now and Sunday, June 6th – you must be a paid voting member of TXMPA at the time of your regional meeting. If you are unsure of your current membership status, please contact your Regional Representative for clarification. You may find more information about your Regional Representative, as well as your Caucus date, time, and location at TXMPA's website, www.txmpa.org.
In addition to the Regional positions, there will be several At-Large seats available this term. To run for one of these seats, you must:
Be a paid voting member in good standing prior to Wednesday, June 2nd
Read and understand the Board of Director duties and responsibilities located at www.txmpa.org under “About Us”
Email a 6-8 sentence bio and headshot to elections@txmpa.org no later than Wednesday, June 2nd
An e-mail announcing the newly elected Regional Reps and Alternates, as well as all of the nominees for the At-Large seats will be distributed on Friday, June 4th and placed on the website shortly thereafter. This e-mail will also be your time to research each of the candidates. If you would like to endorse any of these candidates, you may do so by e-mailing your comments between June 7-11 to the Communications Committee at communications@txmpa.org; your comments will then be placed on the TXMPA website.
From there, online voting will begin at 12:01 AM on Monday, June 14th and will continue until 11:59 PM on Thursday, June 17th. The process will once again be handled by Ballot Bin (www.ballotbin.com); an e-mail with more details about that will go out closer to the date. In the meantime, speaking of online activities, be sure to tell everyone you know that they can get their holiday shopping done early by simply going to www.biddingforgood.com/txmpa, where bids can be placed on some fantastic things, like: a Les Paul studio guitar, a Dallas Cowboys parka, acting classes, graphic design services, your choice from a plethora of gift baskets and weekend trips to places all over the state, and much, much more…
Did you know that the Texas Moving Image Incentive Program has accounted for over $500 million in production dollars spent in the state?
