SWAMP will host a Social Media seminar, presented by Grace Rodriguez of AYN Brand, to help Houston's film and multimedia community learn how to effectively use Social Media for building and engaging audiences. Participants will be introduced to a variety of online tools that can help them:

Build audiences online and offline
Promote your films and projects
Seek talent and crew
Distribute content

Find funding and screening opportunities The seminar will show filmmakers, producers, directors, vodcasters, etc., how to integrate these tools into a manageable system that enhances their productivity and streamlines maintenance, so they still have time to create great work!

Beyond 3-Point: Deconstructing Film Lighting
Date: Saturday, April 4, 2009

Time: 9am - 5pm
Location: Houston Community College - Town & Country, Performing Arts Center

Instructor: PJ Raval (TRINIDAD, TROUBLE THE WATER) Cost: $125 - General Public or $95 - SWAMP Members and StudentsPlease note: Enrollment is limitedCourse Description: This workshop will look at basic concepts behind lighting in film and video by challenging the traditional notion of three point lighting. We will discuss the process for creating a lighting design in motion pictures as well as revisiting/uncovering the basic properties of lighting instruments and the vocabulary we use to talk about light. This lecture centers around the idea "if you don't know what that light is doing then turn it off." Part lecture and part hands on lighting lab, each student will be asked to engage in lighting a scene so bring some gloves and an artistic vision.
