Jim DeMonic - is a master teacher, and a member of the core faculty of The American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York, serving as the head of the Voice & Speech Department, as well as directing productions there. Jim is also a graduate of The American Academy of Dramatic Arts, as well as a former member of The Academy Company. He has also studied Voice and Speech with Patsy Rodenburg (Head of Voice, Royal National Theater of Great Britain), Elizabeth Himmelstein, Dr. David Fairchild and Voice Therapy with Barbara McClosky, as well as Voice Master Classes with Cicely Berry (Head of Voice Emeritus, Royal Shakespeare Company), and Andrew Wade (Head of Voice, RSC). His other professional training includes Stage Make-up with Bob Kelly, Stage Combat with B.H. Barry, and Acting with Michael Howard. In addition to his teaching and directing duties at the Academy, Jim has served as Director for Opera Theatre at The College of New Jersey, directing many of their mainstage musicals. He has also served as a dialect coach/consultant with Robert DeNiro's Tribeca Films. A professional director and actor in New York, His directing training includes the National Theater Institute, as well as tutelage under the auspices of Adrian Noble and Peter Brook of the Royal Shakespeare Company, Rudy Shelly of the Bristol Old Vic, Marc Lamos at Hartford Stage Company, and Andre Bishop, presently, the artistic director of Lincoln Center Theater. Jim co-founded and served as Artistic Director of the Below-the-Belt and Flat Cat Theater Companies in New York, and is presently a member of Wooden I Theater Company. Jim was the first recipient of the illustrious Drama League of New York's Directors' Project Fellowship. At The Top of the Village Gate Theater Festival in New York, he was awarded Best Director for his work on the original play Water, Water Everywhere. Jim's work has been seen at such prestigious institutions as The Eugene O'Neill Theater Center, and Hartford Stage Company. And in New York, at Circle Rep, and the Sanford Meisner Theater, as well as on theater row at Playwrights' Horizons, and the Harold Clurman Theater.
