A MESSAGE FROM THE TXMPA PRESIDENT
I want to take a brief moment to thank all of you that have become members of TXMPA and all of you that support our efforts. Hopefully you have all been receiving the numerous updates on our many meetings across the state. It is important that you join us at these gatherings as often as possible so we can keep you up to date on where we are headed and to be involved in the efforts of getting our message out to fellow industry members, legislators, and the public at large. While some of these messages may seem redundant to those that signed up early on, it is important for all of us to hear them in order to keep our focus. Use each e-blast that you receive as a reminder of the challenge ahead and as an opportunity to reach out to spread the word. Embrace our pleas for members and funds as a chance to find a home for that last little bit of cash left over from your stimulus checks that you’ve been wondering how to spend.
Seriously, everyone gets tired of being asked for money and I wish we were in a position where we didn’t have to keep asking. Unfortunately we aren’t and it’s possible we never will be. TXMPA will always have a mission to grow the moving image industry in Texas and will always have to be in legislator’s minds to make this happen. This isn’t a struggle that ends after 2009. Currently TXMPA is solely a volunteer organization where every penny we receive goes to lobby our message. The success of TXMPA is a success for every industry member in Texas. There are still hundreds of individuals and corporations that have not yet come on board and we need you to help bring their support to our efforts. We need to be able to let legislators know the true size of our industry.
Make sure you read through the messages we send out. We are currently crafting our legislative agenda that we will be asking for your help to present to your state Representatives and Senators. The details will be presented here as well as at the regional meetings across the state. Take pride in what we are accomplishing. Join me in spreading the word. Again, thank you for all of your support.
