THE WHOLE SHOOTING MATCH SCREENS AT MFA-H APRIL 1ST, 2011
This month the Texas Independent Film Network presents the first feature film by Eagle Pennell (1952-2002). Considered a classic of American independent cinema, it follows the tragicomic struggles of two small-time schemers (Lou Perryman and Sonny Carl Davis), desperate to land their big break. This no-budget film's rough-hewn charm and skillful storytelling have made it an inspiration for many, including Robert Redford, who has been quoted as saying that The Whole Shootin' Match was among the films that inspired him to found the Sundance Institute.
