The Texas Motion Picture Alliance is pleased as punch to be partnering with The Highball for our new Central Texas Monthly Meeting/Mixer, launching this Sunday, January 31 from 5-7pm. This event is free and open to the public, so please join us the last Sunday of every month.
THIS MONTH'S GUEST:
Two-time Academy Award nominated sound mixer JOHN PRITCHETT will discuss his craft and career, spanning such films as The Trip to Bountiful, Dirty Dancing, The Player, Road to Perdition, Sin City, There Will Be Blood and the forthcoming The Green Hornet, among scores of others. (As a special treat, John will give us a behind-the-scenes look at the opening tracking shot from The Player, and the "I drink your milkshake" scene from There Will Be Blood.)
ALSO:
Archivist Steve Wilson from the Harry Ransom Center at the University of Texas at Austin will give us a preview of their forthcoming major exhibition, MAKING MOVIES, opening February 9.
ABOUT TXMPA'S CENTRAL TEXAS MONTHLY MEETING/MIXER:
Throughout the year we'll feature industry guests spanning film, tv, commercials and video games, offering behind-the-scenes peeks at their projects along with perspectives on the Texas production incentives program. (Stay tuned for more speaker announcements, and if you have a suggestion/request for speakers, please let us know.) Then, following our meeting/speaker (5-6pm), we'll have a networking mixer from 6-7pm - and of course you're encouraged to avail yourselves of The Highball's excellent bar, dinner menu, bowling, skeeball and karaoke.
Please RSVP on our Facebook Event page at http://bit.ly/txmpah and join our Facebook Group at http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=7593978092 to stay connected with TXMPA. (You can also follow us on Twitter @txmpa.)
